The Direct Energy Guide to a Patriotic Memorial Day

Memorial Day is this weekend and we hope everyone has a chance to reflect and remember those who have lost their lives protecting our great nation. We know most of you will be enjoying pool parties, barbecues, hanging out with friends and family, and ultimately, enjoying a three day weekend. Get in the spirit by doing a little bit of patriotic decorating with these fun crafts and treats your friends and family will love.

Start the party now with these decorations you can start crafting today! Upcycle a wood pallet with a little bit of paint to make an American Flag porch decoration!  Why not leave it up until the 4th of July and be patriotic throughout the summer?

For some additional decorations, pick up some red and white daisies, roses or other favorite flowers, a few blue vases, and you’ve got a patriotic centerpiece for your Memorial Day BBQ dinner!

Now, on to the most important part: the food.

This treat will be a fan favorite for kids and adults alike! Who doesn’t love an ice cream sandwich? These Spangled Sandwich Pops put a patriotic twist on the classic dessert. Just dip the edges sprinkles!

Similar to the Spangled Sandwich pops, these Patriotic Oreo Pops won’t melt as quickly when you’re out enjoying the sun! Use melted white chocolate, sucker sticks and sprinkles to make.

Looking for a lower calorie option to feed the family? This easy and healthy snack watermelon & blueberry snack is patriotic, fun, and super healthy. Use some spirited cookie cutters to get the shapes you want!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day with family and friends. Have recipes, games, or activities you like to do with your family over the long weekend? Share them here in the comments below!
