Honor Received as Part of National Energy Awareness Month Celebration
As one of North America’s largest energy and energy-related services providers, Direct Energy was keen to celebrate Energy Awareness Month in October. But instead of the traditional balloons and cake (or even an energy-efficient party!), we wanted to make a difference with our energy expertise. Thus, we are proud to announce that Direct Energy marked that occasion with its induction into Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Miracle Million Club.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals. These hospitals provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada.
Direct Energy became a partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in December 2015 with a $5 million commitment to Texas Children’s Hospital. This gift will help to expand Texas Children’s Heart Center, allowing more children with critical heart conditions to receive the help they need.
Direct Energy employees across the United States were given the opportunity to play a part in this generosity. This past October 2016, in conjunction with Energy Awareness Month, Direct Energy held its annual “DE in Motion Miracle Challenge.” Around 3,000 employees set personal wellness goals, like taking the stairs or getting 30,000 steps on their pedometers each day. For every fitness challenge employees completed, Direct Energy made an additional donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, up to $150,000.

From visiting the hospitals to coordinating children’s toy and game drives, as well completing a well-being goal for others, I’m honored to work alongside people with a passion for serving the children of their local communities.
