It’s time for the October 2014 edition of Direct Energy Buzz! This past month has been full of exciting developments at Direct Energy, so we wanted to share a recap of all that great news.
Direct Energy is committed to delivering energy efficient products and forward-thinking technology to our customers. So much so, during the month of September, we were on the road for the Direct Energy Innovation to Inspiration Tour. We transformed an 18-wheeler into a model of various home and business environments to show the full capacity of what a smart home or business can truly be. Then we took the trailer to the streets and traveled around the U.S. visiting cities like Houston and New York City to educate consumers on green technology. With products such as SmartThings, Smart Water Tank from Sequentic, Panoramic Power, BuildingIQ, and other forward-thinking technology, visitors can actually see these products being put to use in a cohesive, real life setting. While Direct Energy’s Online Account Manager customer portal was updated 11 months ago, we weren’t satisfied with just those updates. After more updates and some additional tweaking, we’re now happy to introduce a new and improved version of our Online Account Manager portal! We wanted to enhance the overall customer experience with the goal of making customers’ account management even easier than before. Through this portal, customers can now pay their bill, enroll in auto pay and paperless billing, view energy usage history ,and so much more! While this portal is currently available for Texas customers only, we plan to roll out these improvements to the rest of our customers over the course of the next few months.
For those customers in the Commonwealth Edison territory of Illinois, get excited for free power! Direct Energy announced that we’re providing Free Power Saturdays and Free Power Sundays with the hopes to encourage more energy usage on those days. We’ve learned energy usage and demand are usually low, so these two plans will be particularly useful for customers who are willing to move some of their high energy usage to Saturday or Sunday.
Have you ever had thoughts of switching to green, renewable energy, but for whatever reason never followed through? Well, with Direct Energy’s Support Green program, customers can have the best of both worlds. For just $5.00 a bill, you can keep your current (non-renewable) electricity plan, and Direct Energy will purchase 1 Renewable Energy Credit (REC) on your behalf. This equals offsetting 1,000 kWh of non-renewable energy usage. The benefits to this program are that you reduce your carbon footprint AND assist Direct Energy in promoting clean, renewable energy. Now that is what I call a win-win!
