Welcome back to another edition of the Direct Energy Buzz! Can you believe August is here already? That means fall is just around the corner, and although we love summer, we are so ready for some cooler, fall weather!
We debuted our “We are Direct Energy” campaign on our Blog this week by introducing you to Bryan Treadway, a business development manager in Houston. He’s a Texas Southern Flounder conservationist and had some cool tips on saving energy at home.
Also this week, we announced the first winner in our Back-To-School Sweepstakes. Doug Ray, of Houston, won a $100 gift card to Amazon.com. Have you entered the sweepstakes yet? You still have time! Next week we are giving away a $100 gift card to Bed Bath & Beyond. The grand prize, to be drawn on September 7th, is a brand new MacBook Pro and a $500 American Express gift card!
What are your plans for this weekend? We suggest an outdoor barbecue because they are fun and tasty, and can lower your energy consumption and lower your electric bill! We posted some grilling tips and a delicious Applesauce Barbecue Chicken Recipe. Mmmm!
Speaking of barbecues, Direct Energy is looking forward to some awesome tailgate parties during the upcoming football season! We asked our Facebook Fans who they were most looking forward to rooting for this year and it looks like the Dallas Cowboys are the team to beat right now. Weigh in on our Facebook page.
We mentioned looking forward to some cooler temperatures this fall but Texas could really use a break right now! ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) reported three days of record-setting electricity demand this week and encouraged conserving electricity from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Check out these tips we posted a few weeks ago for how to handle a power outage.
And now, for the Direct Energy Job of the Week! We’ve recently unrolled a new way for you to connect with us online and keep up with the career opportunities at Direct Energy through our LinkedIn page. This week’s featured job is an Employee Communications Manager. Check it out on LinkedIn for more information.
Thank you, Per Ola Wiberg ~ Powi for the ice cream photo.
