National Blueberry Month

Did you know July is National Blueberry month? While today is your last chance to celebrate in this month-long celebration, there are blueberry festivals happening across the country throughout August! If you’re a true lover of one of our nation’s favorite fruits, click here for a list of this year’s blueberry celebrations.

In honor of National Blueberry month, get outside and harvest your green thumb! After all, nothing is better than homegrown berries. Check out these tips for gardening in August:

  • Make sure you’re watering your plants regularly!
  • Weed, weed, weed! While weeding can be a mundane task, weeds can be harmful to your plants, as they remove essential moisture from the ground.
  • To encourage re-bloom, remove spent blooms from flowers.
  • Plant your August fruits and veggies, like strawberries, beets, carrots, broccoli, cabbage and radishes.
