Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character,” exert from “I Have A Dream” by Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. King was a Baptist minister, civil-rights activist and at one point, head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

He played a pivotal role the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. King received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.  He was assassinated in April 1968. Among his many roles and accomplishments, King is most know for his “I Have A Dream” speech during March on Washington in 1963.
