Direct Energy President and CEO Visits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, OH

Direct Energy President and CEO Visits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, OHOn Friday, February 28th, Direct Energy’s President and CEO, Badar Khan, toured the Milo Grogan Center of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, OH. Rebecca Asmo, Executive Director for the Columbus Clubs, showed Badar the Clubs’ teen center, sports facility, and the Power Hour room.

Last year, Direct Energy became the Boys & Girls Clubs’ first statewide corporate sponsor when they announced their two-year partnership and $100,000 donation to the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs’ Power Hour, an after-school academic support program. Since then, more than 5,000 youth participated in the Power Hour program across seven Ohio communities: Greater Cincinnati, Greater Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, the Western Reserve (Akron) and Youngstown.

Khan had the opportunity to speak with two Club members about their experience with the Power Hour program and how it’s helped with their academic goals. During his tour of the Center, Khan was able to see their hard work firsthand, which included newly painted rooms and the addition of motivational quotes throughout the facility.

In addition to this visit, the employees at the Direct Energy Columbus, OH office and its local sales partners volunteer on a monthly basis at the Milo Grogan Center, as they provide assistance with setting up for various events, decorating for the holidays, cleaning, and much more.
