Direct Energy Buzz – December 23rd edition

It’s almost Christmas weekend! We hope everyone is getting into the holiday spirit and is stress free. We have been having a blast keeping you up to date on the latest holiday gift guides and energy saving tips, so check out what you’ve missed if you aren’t following us on Facebook or Twitter yet.

On Monday, we discussed whether you should invest in real or artificial trees this season.  But the truth is, according to the American Christmas Tree Association, both are great choices! See how your choice affected the environment.

We also had some hometown excitement! Houston was just ranked the No. 2 city for mergers and acquisitions for the first three-quarters of the year! The energy sector dominated with other industries also taking the spotlight as well.

On Tuesday, we were back on our holiday helpful hints kick. It seems this time of year our outlets are our best friends holding everything from lights to chargers to cooking appliances. But are you sure you know how much your outlet can take? Now’s the time to double-check! We recommend using them to 80% of their capacity maximum.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? On Wednesday we told you how you should be thinking about a green Christmas instead! Going green can also put a little extra “green” in your pocket to (if you catch our drift).

Have you ever thought of Santa as a particularly eco-friendly man? Thursday we shared what Santa’s carbon footprint would be. We think this is cute and hysterical.

Our final days are approaching to enter the Direct Energy “Tis the Season” Sweepstakes! There are still a few of the best prizes left, including an Apple iPad2, so your time to enter is now.

Happy holidays to everyone! We hope you get to partake in your favorite traditions this year. And, share them with us! We’d love to know how you choose to spend the days. Enjoy your time off and remember to check in with us next week too!
