Direct Energy Buzz August 9 Edition

Wow, the week just flew by! We’re pretty glad it’s Friday, how about you? It’s definitely hot out there. Remember to drink plenty of ice water (out of a reusable water bottle of course) if you’re planning on spending time in the great outdoors this weekend.

On Monday, we shared seven ways to cool off during hot August days. How are you staying cool?

Wednesday was a busy day for Direct Energy! First, we talked about one of our favorite partnerships…the Houston Dynamo. We’ve got a ton of community events coming up that support Dynamo Charities and lead up to Direct Energy night on Aug. 17. We also celebrated a delicious holiday on Wednesday, National S’mores Day, by providing some bonfire safety tips. When you’re finished with your bonfire, remember to put out all the flames with water. Our final blog post on Wednesday was a first person account from PR specialist, Julie Hendry, about the latest Reduce Your Use for Good grant. Congratulations to Neighborhood Legal Services Association!

On Thursday, we had another great post from Julie! This post, about our new partnership with the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, featured a special guest, Julie’s cat. For every new customer in the Duquesne Light and West Penn Power utility territories who enrolls under the Direct Choice program, the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society will receive $25. This is $25 that will help the organization provide a bed, food or toys to a homeless pet. For more information about this partnership, click here.

This week’s Hot Job is for a business analyst in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you’re a team player with excellent communications skills and two to five years of experience, this could be the job for you!

Before you head off to enjoy your weekend, here’s a summer energy tip to keep you cool. Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing during the hot weather, rather than business suits, to help reduce your air conditioning bill.
