Direct Energy Buzz August 30 Edition

Well folks, we made it! It’s finally Friday and we’ve got a three-day weekend ahead. How are you planning on spending Labor Day weekend?

We wrapped up the month of August with some fun blog posts to help you prep for fall and keep you up to date on all the latest Direct Energy news. On Monday, we shared a few ways to prep your lawn (and lawn mower) for the cooler weather ahead. Opt for eco-friendly options like vinegar or baking soda to kill weeds instead of using pesticides. On Tuesday, we congratulated our first ever Syracuse Volunteer Citizen of the Year, Meg Bogosain. Meg’s a longtime volunteer for Francis House, non-denominational home in the heart of Syracuse, NY that provides comfort, love and support to those with terminal illnesses. Learn more about Meg and our Volunteer Citizen of the Year program here. On Wednesday, we shared some of our favorite (and green) recipes, perfect for any Labor Day celebration!

Thursday’s blog shared some of the great work that CPL Retail Energy (a member of Direct Energy’s family of brands) has done this summer through its second annual Summer Bag Program. CPL donated approximately $25,000 to five food banks, which packaged more than 10,000 bags that yielded 17,500 meals for children in Texas. Great work team!

Today’s Hot Job is for a customer care analyst in Calgary, Alberta. If you have two to three years of relevant experience and have a bachelor’s degree, this could be the job for you! Click here to apply.

Before you head out to enjoy your three-day weekend, here’s an energy tip! Laptop computers use up to 90 percent less energy than a standard desktop. Maybe it’s time to switch! For more energy tips, click here: http://bit.ly/14aS50Z
