The media continues to report on the heat in the south, power outages in the northeast, and now heat advisories in Canada. As the temperature rapidly reaches 100 degrees, it’s important to prepare for dangerous heat related illnesses such as heat stroke, especially if you spend a significant amount of time outdoors. Our Tuesday blog post offered a whole bunch of tips for how to beat the heat. Monday’s blog post covered a time-honored summer treat that cools us down: ice cream! And not just any ice cream. We showed you how to make it yourself with recipes like this one for making homemade Cookies ‘N’ Cream ice cream without an ice cream maker.
- Use sprinklers for large areas of grass. Water small patches by hand to avoid waste.
- When doing laundry, match the water level to the size of the load.
- Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you’ll save up to 150 gallons per month.
That wraps it up! Hopefully the, beat-the-heat tips, homemade ice cream recipes and our summer-themed DE Spotify Channel will help keep you happy through all this heat. Stay cool out there, everyone! And be sure to check back in next week for another edition of the Direct Energy Buzz.
