Today is an exciting day! We are happy to announce that with the help of our media partner, ThisWeek Community News, the 2nd annual Columbus, Ohio Volunteer Citizen of the Year award program launched today. Nominations are now being accepted through Thursday, October 17, 2013. This year’s program will choose three finalists and the winner will be announced at a special award event.
The Volunteer Citizen of the Year award program recognizes the significant efforts of individuals who make their communities a better place to live. The award itself consists of:
- $5,000 donation to the winner’s 501C3 accredited organization of choice in their respective community
- $500 donation to each semi-finalists’ 501C3 accredited organization of choice in their respective community
- recognition of the winner’s achievement through a commemorative award
Nomination forms must be submitted by Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:59 pm EST. A selection committee chosen by Direct Energy will review the submissions, and the winner will be announced in November. Complete rules, the official nomination form and all other information are available online at www.DirectEnergyVCOY.com.
We already know that Columbus is filled with amazing volunteers. Last year, in its inaugural year in Columbus, the program honored Clare Anderson for co-founding Scholarships Opportunities for Success to aid women in continuing their education. We look forward to crowning the second winner!
